While I begin working on the site that will address Satan's tools to deceive and undermine the Church through mysticism and occult practices, I want to point out to pastors, and especially youth pastors, to keep a sharp eye out for mysticism creeping into your church.
Pay attention to the jewelry, t-shirts, stickers, and other items that are being used by members, especially teenagers. Some of these items are:
- Pentagrams
- Crystals
- Amulets (ankh)
- Norse or Viking Symbols
- Celtic Symbols
- Zodiac Symbols
- Native American Symbols
- African Mythology Symbols
- Hindu Symbols
- Buddhist Symbols
- Oriental Words
- and many more
While not every item is mystical, many are. A birthstone or engagement ring is not a mystical crystal, but a crystal that purports healing, calm, etc., is a mystical device. At the same time, people should not become so enveloped in Christian symbolism that they attribute power to the symbol rather than to God Almighty.
Wearing something such as a cross to tell the world that you are a Christian can be a valid testimony; believing that the cross you wear keeps you safe turns the item into a talisman and is not condoned by God.
Watch constantly over your flock that the devil does not convince people to carry symbols that are against the teachings in the Bible. "No other gods before me" means not to put other things ahead of God, but a meaning much forgotten is also not to bring them into His presence.
As a Christian, your body is the temple of the Lord, and it should never be adorned with symbols from other religions or beliefs!
